Kristie Spenner, the 23-34 Iredell-Statesville Schools Principal of the Year, is currently the principal of Woodland Heights Elementary in Mooresville, North Carolina. She has dedicated 24 years to public education, with nine of those years as a building principal. She has a wealth of experience in both elementary and middle school administration. Kristie began her career teaching elementary grades for thirteen years. Her commitment to educational excellence and professional growth led her to become an Instructional Growth Teacher. She then transitioned to middle school administration, serving first as a Dean of Students and then as an Assistant Principal. Her leadership skills were quickly recognized, and she was promoted to Principal of a K-8 school the following year. Throughout her career, Kristie has been driven by the principle of doing what is best for students. Her leadership is marked by a proven track record of increasing academic achievement and improving school culture wherever she has served. Her dedication to fostering a positive and productive educational environment has benefited both students and staff.
Kristie Spenner is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Arizona State University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision. Her academic background and professional experience have made her a staunch advocate for public education, and she continues to champion the cause through her role as a transformational principal.
